Hunter nearly signed professionally with MLS Toronto on completing his collegiate career. As captain of Yavapai College (Roughriders), Hunter won Back-to-Back NJCAA National Championships - a feat almost unheard of in history until today. The record was 56-0-0. Hunter also played for NCAA D1 at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB). After his collegiate career, he got down to the last two players riding on a decision for a professional contract with Canadian side Toronto, and he just missed out. On his return to the UK, Hunter played with Darlington FC.
